My Kidz Shack Cubby House

My Kidz Shack is Hide & Seek Kids' elevated cubby for school-age kids – an open-style timber house on a platform with a picket verandah, a large wavy slide, a sandpit built in underneath, and stairs fitted with climbing grips. Where the Marlie is aimed at 3-year-olds and up, this one is recommended from 5, and the extra height and longer slide are why.

How much room you need

Allow a level area of about 4.5 m × 4 m. The stairs come out roughly 60 cm, the climbing grips about 67 cm and the slide runs out about 1.9 m. Perspex-enclosed windows so it's usable in wind and light rain.

What arrives and what's involved

Six cartons totalling 188 kg, the heaviest 46 kg, delivered kerbside by assisted delivery – two adults to carry. Pre-fabricated timber panels and a printed manual; 4–5 hours for two adults. It arrives with a temporary water-based stain and needs two coats of primer/sealer and two coats of exterior paint for durability and warranty; paint the panels flat before assembly.
