Kingston Cubby House

The Kingston is the one-purchase backyard: an open fort-style cubby on a 1.1 m platform, a 2.2 m wavy slide, a climbing rock wall and a climbing rope, a side step ladder, a 2 m monkey-bar and swing frame with two swing seats, and a 1.5 m × 1.5 m sandpit with tarp under the deck. If you have kids at different ages – a four-year-old on the slide and sandpit, an eight-year-old on the monkey bars – this is the set that keeps both of them out there.

Size – measure first

Assembled it's just under 5 m long, 2.75 m wide and 2.73 m tall (496 × 275 × 273 cm). Add clear space for the slide run-out and behind the swings, and you want a level area of roughly 7 m × 5 m. It's a big piece of equipment; if that's more than you have, the Silverton gives the cubby-slide-sandpit part in a third of the space.

Limits and standards

Cubby platform rated to 200 kg; monkey bars 80 kg, rope 70 kg, each swing and the slide 50 kg, one child at a time. Not for children under 3. Meets AS/NZS 8124 parts 1, 2, 3 and 6. Includes a mini play kitchen and chalkboard in the cubby.

Timber and finish

Premium timber with a matte stain finish, heat-treated (a natural, chemical-free process). Arrives stained – no painting required. Lifespan Kids covers wood rot and insect damage (termites excluded) for 12 months. Shipping weight around 214 kg across several cartons, delivered kerbside by assisted delivery: you'll need two adults to move the boxes, and a weekend to build it.
