Silverton Cubby House with 1.8m Slide

The Silverton is Lifespan Kids' compact elevated cubby, and it's the model we recommend when someone wants a slide and a sandpit but doesn't have the yard for a full play centre. The cubby sits on a 90 cm platform with a wooden staircase and handrail, a 1.8 m wavy slide comes off the side, and the space underneath is a 1.4 m × 1.4 m sandpit with storage under the stairs.

What's built in

A play kitchen with sink and tap, a chalkboard, sunburst windows and a light wooden door with a magnetic catch that actually stays shut. Kids move between kitchen, slide and sandpit without leaving the structure, which keeps them busy far longer than a slide on its own.

Size and who it suits

Assembled footprint 2.78 m × 1.91 m, 2.30 m tall; allow a couple of metres of clear run-out at the bottom of the slide. Rated for up to three children, 50 kg each; not for under-3s. It's the right size from about 3 to 8.

Timber and finish

100% cedar, heat-treated rather than chemically treated, and it arrives stained – there's no painting requirement, though a recoat every couple of years keeps it looking new. Metal and plastic parts are UV-stabilised. Net weight about 101 kg, flat-packed with a manual. Lifespan Kids gives 12 months on manufacturer defects and 12 months against wood rot and insect damage.
