I just watched an amazing video of YouTube singer Chase Holfelder covering Sia and David Guetta’s “Titanium”. A beautiful song in its own right, but what made this particular cover stand out for me is that Chase uses his daughter’s little wooden toy piano and in her room.
The song Titanium is about being resilient, not letting things get you down, not the bully in school or work, not the near impossible task that you have failed many times, or the many times people have told you that you can’t do it.
So when I saw it being sung in a child’s room, with a toy piano creating its distinctive high pitched notes, I was overwhelmed with emotions that I can only describe as melancholy because I was happy to watch such genius, sad that I many children out there may be suffering in silence from bullies, or low self-esteem, and resolution that I need to teach my children resilience.
On a less self absorbed note, I did also notice how well kept his daughter’s room is kept, and decorated, and that little teepee at the back that also gives an extra safe space for his daughter to “hide”, be with herself, and imagine…
I’ll stop my rant now, and without further ado, here is the video I’m talking about.
